Anthy was a character that confused the hell out of me the first time I watched Utena. At the time, I connected deeply with Utena & probably as a consequence, I didn’t like Anthy very much. However, I saw a completely different, deeper, scarier character the next time I watched the series that absolutely fascinated me; each time I see it, I see more of her influence. She is one of those characters that has continued to mesmerize me & one that inspires so much compassion.

She is my favorite character from Utena & probably my favorite character in anime; I am always looking for nice or unusual cels of her.

Utena as Anthy - Ep8

I debated where to place this cel since this is actually Utena in Anthy's body in one of the sillier episodes in the first season of Utena. Anthy makes a curry that swaps their bodies for the duration of the episode. This shot is during a montage of things 'getting back to normal' while Utena and Anthy are in each other's bodies. I'd love to have a cel of Utena in Anthy's headscarf & apron, but I've only ever seen this and less than a couple of cels from this entire episode in all my years of collecting.
