I never thought that I would be much of a sketch collector. After all, Utena actually has cels! However, the more that I have collected, the more I am able to see the whole animation process & the work that went into making cels & the anime. It’s pretty fascinating!

These are various sketches from the TV show for which I do not have corresponding cels. I tried to place these in the order that they appear in the series.

Wakaba Hurt Layout - Ep12

Such a lovely layout of Wakaba looking devastated. The only other time you see this exact expression on Wakaba is her disbelief of someone posting her love letter in Episode one.

In this instance, she's watched her friend's usually vibrant personality evaporate overnight. Utena is apologizing here for slapping Wakaba earlier & thanking her for being honest.
