I never thought that I would be much of a sketch collector. After all, Utena actually has cels! However, the more that I have collected, the more I am able to see the whole animation process & the work that went into making cels & the anime. It’s pretty fascinating!

These are various sketches from the TV show for which I do not have corresponding cels. I tried to place these in the order that they appear in the series.

Anthy Closeup - Ep3

This gorgeous sketch of Anthy was in the same set with the Utena closeup immediately following this one. There's also rough sketches and a timing sheet for the sequence.

Please forgive my poorly pieced together scan of this sketch - it is much more beautiful in person. Since this is a pan sketch, it's larger than my little 8x10 scanner, and I had to pan a couple of times to get the entire image.
